Richmond, VA - Escaping the northeast-10 cold and wet weather, the Adelphi University track and field program opened the outdoor season at the Fred Hardy Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond on Friday.

The Panthers put together several top-10 finishes to kick off the season and set a handful of PRs along the way.

Katherine and Isabel Marsh placed first and third, respectively in the 800 meter race - the former running the fourth best time in Division II following the weekend's events. Rookie Carly Koprowski placed 10th in the same event, clocking in at 2:16:87

Returning to action, Juliet Felice placed seventh in the undseeded 5000m run in a time of 19:19.48, which lands third among East Region competition through the weekend. Maddie Gerby and Caleigh Hopkins were close behind, crossing the tape as ninth and 10th, respectively.

Following a gold medal finish in the 60 hurdles, Amari Johnson kicked off the outdoor slate with a third place showing in the 100 hurdles, in a time of 14.72.

Leah Comeroski and Lindsey Wilson represented the Brown and Gold in the jumps pit - the former taking 10th in the long jump (5.03m) and the latter placing ninth in the triple jump (10.03m). Maeve Duggan was a anchor in the throws department for the women, taking seventh in the shotput (10.23m), 10th in the discus (28.98m) and 11th in the hammer (18.20m). Despite two fouls, Abigail Mallia tossed the javelin 11.26m to finish 10th in the field.

Several different members of the men's squad also appeared in the top-10 for their respective events, highlighted by a second place showing in the high jump for Bishopp Boutin, who jumped 1.85m in his first outdoor collegiate meet.

Boutin was also responsible for a time of 55.98 in the 400 hurdles that placed him fourth overall, leading teammates Sergio Talamo and Luke Sulli.

Finding a home in the top three were Bryan Combary in the 110 hurdles and Andre Francis in the hammer. Francis's toss of 47.62 meters was a new career-best in the specialty and the second best distance in the East Region.

Jake Orfano rounded out the top performances of the weekend with his 15:31.19 time in the 5000 unseeded race. He was fourth in the field and ranks third among East Region competition in the specialty.

Adelphi will return north and brave the cold for its next meet at Monmouth University starting Friday, March 29.
