Rochester, N.Y. - Three different members of the Adelphi University cross country programs earned All-Region status following the NCAA Division II East Region Cross Country Championship on Saturday, as the men and women placed eighth and 11th, respectively.
As it played out all season,
Jake Orfano was the leading finisher for Adelphi in the East Region, placing 14th in a field of nearly 150 harriers. He was one of three paced at 5:11/mile to clock in at 32:12.2 for the 10K race, which caps his career as a lifetime best in the specialty.
Also running his final race of the cross country season was
Diego Llanos who bested his 2023 placement of 48th to finish 24th this season, also posting a career-best time in the 10K, with 32:26.2.
On the women's side,
Lucia Kutner concluded her junior season with her best career-finish of 20th, after placing 45th a season ago and 101st as a freshman. She was the first to cut the tape for Adelphi, and was followed by
Maya Suarez, who clocked in at 23:53.1, which marks a new PR in the 6K.
Team victories were awarded to Roberts Wesleyan on the women's side and Southern Connecticut for the men.
This marks the first season since 2022 that the Panthers will not be represented at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.
