Garden City, N.Y. — Entering his 10th season at the helm of the Adelphi University men's basketball team, head coach Dave Duke has announced the schedule for the 2024-2025 campaign.
Duke and his squad secured the second overall seed and a first round bye in last year's Northeast-10 Conference Tournament, but were eliminated in the second round by Saint Anselm, leaving the Panthers without a NE10 playoff win since 2012.
"I'm very excited for this season," Duke said. "We've got a great group of guys here that are ready for competitive non-conference play and a challenging schedule in the NE10."
The season tips-off at home in the Center for Recreation and Sport, where the 'Cats will host the ECC/NE10 Conference Challenge. They take on Long Island rival Molloy on Friday, Nov. 8 at 5:30 p.m. in their season opener. The following day Adelphi will play Queens College (N.Y.) at 1 p.m.Â
The squad then hits the road, taking a trip to Dominican University of New York on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Conference play will begin on Saturday, Nov. 16 when Assumption comes to Garden City for a 3:30 p.m. tipoff.Â
The first conference road game will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 20 up in Waltham, Mass. against Bentley at 7:30 p.m.
The Panthers will then turn their attention to the NE10 finalists from a year ago, as the Owls of Southern Connecticut make their way to the CRS on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m.Â
Shortly after, the Panthers will embark on a trip to the Aloha State and compete in the Hoops in Hawaii Classic.Â
Duke has scheduled for the team to play three games over the course of three days in Honolulu starting on Nov. 29 as they take on the University of Hawaii at Hilo. The following day they square off against Hawaii Pacific and on Dec. 1 they will finish up tournament play at Chaminade.Â
Engineering a quick turn around, the team will travel to Rindge, N.H., when they take on Franklin Pierce on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
The Brown and Gold return home for a highly anticipated matchup with the St. Anselm Hawks on Saturday, Dec. 8 before hosting the College of Staten Island on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
Adelphi go on the road for a five-game stretch featuring games at Bridgeport (Dec. 14), Bloomfield (Dec. 19), Goldey-Beacom (Dec. 22), New Haven (Jan. 2) and Saint Michael's (Jan. 5).
The Panthers then begin their longest homestand of the 24-25 season when they host three games against American International (Jan. 8), NCAA East Region champions Southern New Hampshire (Jan. 11) and Pace (Jan. 14).
The Brown Gold then travel to Southern Connecticut State (Jan. 22) and Assumption (Jan. 25) before closing out the month of January at home against Bentley University on Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m.Â
February has seven games on the schedule for the Panthers with three at home and four at conference foes.
The Panthers will close out the regular season at home on Tuesday, Feb. 25 against New Haven.Â
The first round of the NE10 Tournament will be held on Friday, Feb. 28, with the highest seeds hosting throughout. The final will take place on Sunday, March 9.Â
