Isabel Marsh Nears D2 Record as Adelphi Competes at NYC Gotham Cup

Staten Island, N.Y. - Highlighted by Isabel Marsh's performance in the 600, the Adelphi University track and field program returned to action at the NYC Gotham Cup hosted at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, New York on Friday. 

I. Marsh clocked in at 1:32.59 in the 600m Invite event, featuring post-collegiate racers to place fourth in the field and land herself fifth on the all-time Division II list in the specialty. 

Other highlights from the women's meet were Valencia Beaubrun's winning leap of 5.51m in the long jump and Claire O'Regan's sub-26 performance in the 200 meter race. Lucia Kutner won her heat of the mile with a breezy 5:28.47 time and Sumaira Mayan set a new PR in the 1K at 3:05.72 to place 11th overall. 

On the men's side, Andre Francis was the tenth-place finisher in the shotput with a distance of 12.15m while also putting up a fourth-place performance in the weight throw with a launch of 15.73m. 

Bishopp Boutin cleared 3.15 on his first attempt to place sixth overall in the high jump and also leapt 6.23m in the long jump to earn a seventh place finish. 

Adelphi's men's distance medley relay squad of Jake Orfano, Chuck Nwankwo, Jayson Plaza and chris Leonard ran an 11:00.52 to place fourth in the field, ahead of relay squads from Queens and the Pratt Institute. 

The squad will head to Boston for its next meet, partaking in the annual John Thomas Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University on Jan. 26-27. The men will compete on Friday and the women on Saturday.
