Virginia Beach, VA - Entering the competition as the top-seeded athlete in the women's weight throw, Kyria Moore finished in second overall on Friday, at her first NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championship.

With a lifetime best of 20.81m, Moore got as close as 20.08 meters on her second attempt Friday, which at the time stood as a facility record.

Brooklyn Chipps from Wayne State was the eventual overall champion, having been one of four athletes to throw over 20 meters this season. She landed a toss at 20.70 on her fifth chance, to take the crown.

For her efforts, Moore earns United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) First Team All-America status. She is the first, First Team All-America athlete for the program since Victoria Major earned that honor in 2019 in the high jump.

The Amityville, N.Y. native will now prepare for her first outdoor season at the Division II level.
