Boston, Mass. - Junior Christopher Holt wrapped up the 2023 Northeast-10 Indoor Track and Field Championship as the event's Most Outstanding Track Performer, as the Adelphi University men's program placed six in the field.

The men's best program finish at the indoor championship dates back to 2014, when the team placed fourth, with their highest point total occurring the following year when they scored 81 in 2015. In 2023, the team totaled 68 points with four individuals and one relay team reaching the podium.

Holt was responsible for gold medals in both the 200m and 60 meter dash, after clocking in at 21.47 and 6.87, respectively. He fell .01 seconds shy of an NCAA Division II provisional mark in the 60, but moves to 12th on the Division II list in the 200. His time in the 200 tied Tre-Sean Bouie out of Assumption College, but looking at the next decimal, Holt leaned in for a 21.461 finish, just edging Bouie who was clocked at 21.468.

Also earning a gold medal for the Panthers was Khalil Chester, who managed a leap of 6.90m to best the field. His first three jumps were 6.12, 6.36, and 6.22 but on the fifth try he landed a 22-foot, 7.75-inch distance to best the field. The Amyitville, NY native had only ever jumped 6.90m on two other occasions and in the outdoor season.

Rounding out the individual podium finishes was Matthew Wenz, who finished in a three-way tie for the bronze medal in the high jump. He, along with Sean Morrissey (Assumption) and Jordany Daly (New Haven) each cleared 1.62m to earn a spot on the podium.

Wenz also competed and earned points for Adelphi in the heptathlon, ultimately placing fourth in the field. It came down to the final 1000m of the seven-event specialty, which Wenz held a 100+ point lead before the sound of the gun. After day one he led the field after a first place showing in both the long jump, with a distance of 6.57m and high jump, with an 1.86m height. He ran a sub-nine for the first time in his career in the 60m hurdles (8.99) to best the group and a third place showing in the pole vault.

On the distance side of the Championship, the men's distance medley relay raced to a third place showing, an event that Adelphi has not won since 2010. The quartet of Nicholas Nanan, Sufiyan Sarguroh, Christian Bien-Aime, and Diego Llanos raced to a time of 10:31.31 to finish nine seconds ahead of the crew from New Haven to earn bronze.

Panthers who are on the cusp of reaching provisional marks to attend the 2023 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Virginia Beach, will have some last chance meets to attend over the next few weekends as denoted on the team's schedule page. Otherwise, the outdoor season will commence on Friday, March 24 when the teams compete at the Monmouth Season Opener.
