Kansas City, MO - The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced the recipients of the 2021-22 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards and NABC Honors Court, representing outstanding achievement in the classroom by collegiate men's basketball teams and student-athletes on Tuesday, which included Adelphi men's basketball and nine individual honorees.
The Panthers posted a semester grade point average of 3.430 with a yearlong mark at 3.389. The program also posted the highest team GPA in the Northeast-10, earning them the Team Academic Excellence Award in the conference.
Ronnie Silva, who earned the NE10 Sport Excellence award posted a perfect 4.0 in the spring semester, en route to being named a CoSIDA Academic All-American for the second time in his storied career. He anchored the group with First Team All-Conference honors and was named Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II Co-Player of the Year.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2021-22 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2021-22 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
"Academic success is a core value of the NABC and a priority shared by men's basketball programs across the country," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Excellence in the classroom requires hard work and dedication, and the NABC considers it a privilege to honor these deserving student- athletes and the coaches and staff who support them."
Over 2,000 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court and over 300 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2021-22.
