Colorado Springs, Colo. - On Friday afternoon, the Adelphi University field hockey team learned that graduate students
Bianca Bachisin and
Kaylee Deleva were named Second Team All-Americans by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
Deleva also earned First Team All-America honors from Synapse Sports, while freshman goalie
Mirthe Karstens landed on the All-Rookie Team.
it was a historic 2022 season for the Adelphi University field hockey team, which won its first-ever NE10 Championship and returned to the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.
Deleva played a crucial role in the Cats' attack this year. A year after being named NE10 Player of the Year, the Sound Beach, N.Y. native tallied 18 goals (second-most in NE10) and an assist for 37 points -- leading to NE10 First Team All-Conference honors. She was named NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week, after Deleva's six goals in a three-game span helped the Panthers claim their first-ever NE10 title.
Bachisin became a consistent threat on the stat sheet this season, crediting 11 goals and six assists to her name. She was named to the NE10 All-Conference First Team and garnered NE10 Defensive Player of the Week accolades in the last week of October. The Long Island native scored her first collegiate hat trick back in early October against SNHU.Â
Karstens made an immediate impact in goal for the Brown and Gold this season. She made 118 saves, which stands as the fourth-highest single-season record all-time at Adelphi. The international star was recognized to the NE10 All-Conference All-Rookie Team, while also earning National Defensive Player of the Week honors back in September. She was labeled as the NE10 Player and Defender of the Week once and earned Rookie of the Week twice.
The Panthers look forward to defending their conference championship next year in 2023.
