Deleva, Peregoy Earn NFHCA Player of the Week Honors

11/23/2022 1:00:00 PM

Colorado Springs, Colo. - The awards keep on coming for the Adelphi University field hockey team as graduate student Kaylee Deleva and junior Kylie Peregoy were honored as this week's National Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for Division II, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced on Wednesday morning.

These two student-athletes helped claim the program's first Northeast-10 Championship in program history by defeating St. Thomas Aquinas, Saint Anselm and Pace as the four-seed in their conference tournament.

Deleva was named NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week due to her scoring performances in last week's games. She would end up scoring a pair of goals in each of the Panthers' three games - scoring both against Saint Anselm in which the squad defeated the team in overtime and on their home stand against Pace this past Sunday (Nov. 20). The Long Island native now has 18 goals for the year including one assist. She's now sits at 41 goals scored in her collegiate career and is one away from tying Panthers' all-time goal scorer, alumnae Julianne Gerbino '11 with 42 goals.

For the second time this season, Peregoy earned NFHCA Defensive Player of the Week while assisting twice and collecting two key defensive saves in the Panthers' conference tournament. Earlier, she was honored this award back in October for collecting a defensive save towards a win in overtime against Saint Anselm while also playing a strong role to give the Cats' two shutout victories in that span. Peregoy leads the team with seven defensive saves and is tied with redshirt-freshman Emiline Biggin for third with seven assists.

The six-seeded Brown and Gold squad will compete this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. and travel to play No.3 West Chester (PA) in a rematch of last year's First Round of the NCAA Tournament when the Golden Rams won 4-1. The winner of this contest will play against No. 2 Shippensburg in Renton, Washington.
