Indianapolis, Ind. - For the second year in a row, the Adelphi University field hockey team found out Monday afternoon that it will compete as the No. 6 seed in the 2022 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship as announced via selection show.
For the fifth time in program history (1981, 2014, 2015, 2021, 2022), as well as following its first-ever Northeast-10 Championship, the Panthers will return to the big dance.
The Brown and Gold, who boast a 13-8 overall record, will face a familiar foe on Sunday, Nov. 27 in the national quarterfinal when they take on the third-seeded Rams of West Chester University at 1:00 p.m. The Golden Rams are making their ninth appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament since re-classifying in 2011. They won the national title their first two years in Division II (2011, 2012) and again in 2019.
Adelphi dropped a 0-4 decision in its fourth game of the season to the Rams, who were bounced early from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament, to the eventual champion East Stroudsburg in overtime. Sunday's contest is a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament first round tilt that was won by the Golden Rams, 4-1.
The Warriors (18-2) received the overall top seed in the tournament and will await the winner of the other first-round contest between Assumption (14-5) and Saint Anselm (14-6), which will also take place on Sunday.
Tickets and more details for Sunday can be found at the link above. Prices are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors/students and $1 for children under 2.
