1/29/2022 9:30:00 AM

Boston, Mass. - It was a race against the weather for Adelphi University women's track members on Friday, as they tripped to Boston University for the 2022 John Thomas Terrier Classic ahead of the impending storm that struck the Northeast a day later.

Gabrielle Buissereth was the top finisher out of the Northeast-10 Conference in the 400m event this weekend, posting a time of 57.70, to place 12th overall. She also placed 34th overall in the 200m race, in 25.85, less than a second off her personal best in the specialty. Also running in the 400 and setting a new PR was Gabrielle Griffin, who broke the one minute mark, crossing the line in 59.09.

In the 60m dash, Claire O'Regan ran .15 off her best, boasting a time of 8.28 to come in 9th in the field.

From the rookies, Sumaira Mayan took to the 800 for the first time in a Panther uniform, setting the bar at 2:34.96 which ranks her 17th among NE10 competition. Fiona Maloney shaved over five seconds off her time in the 400 from earlier in the month, setting a new career-best of 1:01.49.

After the snow disrupted the plan for the men's meet on Sunday, both teams will look to compete this upcoming weekend - currently scheduled to attend the Deschriver Invite hosted by East Stroudsburg University on Saturday, Feb. 5.
