Box Score West Haven, Conn. - Coming off a loss to Saint Anselm College on Saturday, the Adelphi University men's basketball team was kept to their second lowest scoring output of the season on Monday, dropping a 53-70 decision to the University of New Haven.
A rescheduled contest from New Years' Day, the Panthers (10-6, 5-4) were held to a mere 16 points in the opening half and ultimately fell by their largest margin of the season to the Chargers (17), who won their second straight after shooting over 50 percent in both halves.
New Haven held the Panthers scoreless in the first nine minutes, while putting up 13 beforehand. Adelphi didn't get on the board until nearly nine minutes went by when
Adonis Williams scored a jumper outside of the paint. The Panthers struggled to get any momentum together en route to the home team leading by at-most 23 points which happened with just under three minutes remaining in the half.

Ronnie Silva was held scoreless in the opening 20 minutes of action, and only finished with six points - the last time he scored in single digits, Adelphi fell to Pace on Dec. 7, earlier in the season.
Coming out of the break, the Brown and Gold could not get any closer than 13 points, despite improving their overall shooting percentage from the field. They still only went 3-12 from three point range in the second half sinking just five three-pointers all game, although they were averaging just under 12 three's per game heading into Monday afternoon's contest.
In the end, only Williams and
Joshua Koulamallah reached double-digit scoring, accounting for 10 apiece.
Adelphi will return to action this weekend when they host Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, Jan. 22.
