Staten Island, N.Y. - After 644 days, the Adelphi University track and field team returned to indoor competition on Friday, taking part in the Fastrack Season Opener hosted at the Ocean Breeze Complex.
In her first collegiate outing,
Amari Johnson posted a time of 9.06 in the 60 meter hurdles to place third in the finals, while also clocking in at 27.73 in the 200 meter dash. Returning to action,
Katherine Marsh finished sixth behind five athletes from Johns Hopkins in the 3000 meter race, in a time of 10:52.47.
Gabrielle Buissereth, who was headed to the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships the last time she was set to compete, finished second in the 800 meter event in a time of 2:23.06. The quartet of Buissereth,
Claire O'Regan,
Gabrielle Griffin and
Fiona Maloney saw a time of 4:02.27 in the 4x400, an event they look to defend at this year's indoor Northeast-10 Conference championship in February.
On the men's side,
Dre Litsey set a career-best in the 60 meter dash for indoors, placing 13th with a time of 7.57.
Bryan Combary competed for the first time in a Panther uniform this weekend, setting marks in both the 60 hurdles and 60-yard dash. In the hurdles event, he placed 10th in his preliminary heat, with a time of 8.85 seconds. In the dash, he ran 7.58.
Closing out 2021, the Panthers will send a couple of heptathlon athletes to the Rhode Island Qualifier on Thursday, Dec. 9.
