Manchester, NH - The Adelphi University men's cross country program, who was selected to finish sixth this year at the Northeast-10 Conference championship, put together a score of 209 to finish there while the female harriers dipped to 12th this season.
Diego Llanos was the first finisher for the Panthers on the men's side, crossing in 27:29.7 to finish 32nd overall.
Thomas Roulette finished six positions later to come in 38th in a time of 27:54.5. Rounding out the top three for Adelphi was Gabe Silva who bested his 2019 finish by nearly three minutes and improving 46 spots as he crossed 49th out of a field of 149 competitors.
On the women's side,
Isabel Marsh crossed the finish line first for Adelphi, completing the 6k in a time of 25:06.4. I. Marsh shaved over two minutes off her 2019 race, where she finished 64th to finish 38th in 2021. Coming in next for the Brown and Gold was
Maeve Smith, who raced to 66th after running 26:16.0, and she was closely followed by
Grace Minikel and
Sumaira Mayan who placed 68th and 69, respectively. This was the first collegiate 6k that Mayan completed, setting her career-best as 26:26.0.
Adelphi will return to action for the 2021 NCAA East Region race on Saturday, Nov. 6 - this year's event will be hosted on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College on the Matt St. James Cross Country Trails. The trails, located on the north side of the Roberts Wesleyan Campus, are dedicated to distance runner and alumnus Matt St. James - a 2007 graduate of the Redhawks.
