Men's Tennis Upended by Queens in Non-Conference Action

Flushing, N.Y. -- The Adelphi University men's tennis team fell to a regionally-ranked opponent for the second time in the spring season on Friday, falling 8-1 to the Queens (N.Y.) College Knights in a non-conference matchup.

The Knights, ranked No. 2 in the East region in the latest Oracle-ITA poll, swept doubles play to take a foothold in the match. Roman Laga and Sharvill Nawghre combined for an 8-4 win over Matteo Cannavera and Uladzislau Litvinchuk at No. 1 doubles, while Federico Toscano and Camilo Arias claimed another 8-4 win at third doubles to conclude the sweep over David Robres de Veciana and Connor Dove.

The Knights picked up five singles wins as well, all two-set victories to secure the match. Adelphi's lone point on the afternoon came courtesy of Robres de Veciana, who recorded a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles in a win for the first time at the flight this season.

The Panthers return to the courts next Saturday, March 11 when they host the Rams of Philadelphia University in their third non-conference match of the spring season.
