Manchester, N.H. -- A doubles sweep and five straight sets singles wins helped the Adelphi University men's tennis team win its first of three straight Northeast-10 Conference road matches on Saturday, as the Panthers defeated the Saint Anselm Hawks, 8-1.
Adelphi (4-2, 2-0 NE10) rolled to its second Northeast-10 Conference win by sweeping doubles in contrasting fashion, beginning with a dominant 8-0 win for
Matteo Cannavera and
Uladzislau Litvinchuk at No. 1, 8-0.
Connor Dove and
David Robres de Veciana followed with an 8-6 win at No. 3, before
Roey Heymann and
Sabin Adrian Saveluc completed the sweep by edging the tiebreak set at second flight.Â
Heymann and Cannavera started off singles play by dropping just three games apiece to clinch Adelphi's team win over the Hawks (4-11, 1-5 NE10), kicking off five straight sets singles wins for the Panthers. A highlight in the rest of the action for the Brown and Gold was Saveluc's first NE10 victory, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.Â
