Amherst, N.Y. - Led by an all-region performance on each side the Adelphi University men's and women's cross country teams placed seventh and 13th, respectively at NCAA East Region Championship. The race was hosted by Daemen College on Saturday afternoon.
The 6k event was led by
Nicole Julian for the women, who placed 19th overall out of a field of 173 competitors, earning her All-Region accolades. The women as a whole finished in 13th place and were ninth amongst Northeast-10 Conference competition.
Megan Grady and
Kelli Smith both placed in the top-75, posting a time of 25:22.8 and 25:41.9, respectively.
Michael Grady paced the men's team to a top-10 finish (7th), placing 21st to earn All-Region Honors for the third consecutive season. The team finished sixth among NE10 schools with an average time of 35:13 in the 10k event. Grady was followed by
Julian Depaz and
Gerard Connelly, who finished just four second apart to place 34th and 35th.
Jose Velasquez and
Branden Warders rounded out the top-five for the Panthers, also finishing one after the other to sit on the skirts of the top-50.
Earning automatic berths to the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Evansville, Indiana for the men were Stonehill, American International and Merrimack College, finishing as the top-three programs. On the women's side, Assumption ousted NE10 Champions Stonehill for the top-spot, but the Skyhawks finished second, followed by Roberts Wesleyan to earn berths.
