Jackson Springs, N.C.- This weekend the Adelphi University women's golf team took their talents to the Grey Fox Golf Club for the Browngolf Intercollegiate tournament in an attempt to start their spring season off on a good note. A respectable performance from their sophomore,
Lucy Stevens, gave the Panthers hope leading into the rest of their schedule.
Â
Stevens played the course to a final score of 184, good for a 31
st place finish in a field of 69. She shot identical scores on both days of the weekend, posting a 92 on the par 72.
Â
Freshman
Sydney White and
Deanna Dempsey also took to the links this weekend posting similar scores to one another through the two days. White notched a final score of 196, while Dempsey shot a 198.
Â
Carla Maestre of California-PA put together a terrific weekend taking the individual crown with a total score of 148, good for just 4 over par. She also received help from her teammates, with three others finishing in the top 10, another three in the top 20.
Â
This lead to California-PA's inevitable finish atop the team leaderboard with a total score of 630, 54 shots over par. Adelphi was the only school that competed as individuals only in this weekend's event, not posting a team score.
Â
The Brown and Gold will take to the links next on Monday, March 14 for the Barton Women's Intercollegiate at the Wilson Country Club in Wilson, N.C.
