West Chester, Pa. – Adelphi University's women's golf team finished third at the Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, as all five Panthers placed inside the top 25.
For the Cats, it marked the first tournament this season in which they did not finish among the top two teams. Adelphi finished at 86-over as a team, trailing New Haven by 14 strokes (+72) while finishing 44 shots ahead of West Chester (B).
Filippa Schulze Doering led the way with a top-five finish, placing fifth after shooting 18-over for the tournament. The junior led all participants after round one, carding a one-over 73 in her first trip around Penn Oaks Golf Club, highlighted by three birdies, before shooting an 89 in round two.
Nikola Truhlarova recorded a top-10 finish, placing seventh after finishing one shot behind Schulze Doering at 19-over. The freshman navigated the course efficiently, shooting an 80 in round one followed by an 83 in round two, and totaled three birdies over the tournament.
Lauren Jaskier (11th) and Ivory Drusch (16th) each had top-20 finishes for the Cats, as Jaskier finished +24 and Drusch +29.
Jaskier improved upon her opening-round scorecard, shooting an 83 in round two after carding an 86 on day one. Drusch shot an 86 and an 87, the latter of which featured a birdie on her final hole of play.
Rounding out the Adelphi lineup, Jenny Kim shot +39 to finish 22nd individually, improving her score by 13 strokes in round two.
Head coach Bill Bresnan and the Panthers return to the course on Monday, April 13 when they host the Panther Battle at the Bay. The two-day tournament will take place at The Golf Club at Middle Bay in Oceanside.
