Box Score Syracuse, N.Y. – The 25
th ranked Adelphi University women's basketball team traveled to Le Moyne College to take on the Dolphins for the second time this season Wednesday evening. In their first outing, the Panthers defeated Le Moyne 82-59, to give them their hot 12-0 start. This evening marked another win for the Brown and Gold, as they defeated Le Moyne 80-57. The win improves their record to 16-5 overall and 10-5 in conference play, while the Dolphins drop to 11-10 and 7-8 in the NE-10
Pacing the offense was freshman
Calli Balfour who shot 9-13 from the field and accounted for a career-high 22 points.
Tara Flynn came off the bench to contribute 16 points, shooting a perfect 4-4 from beyond the arc. Two other Panthers foudn themselves in double figures as
Sade Jackson and
Jessica Kitrys had 14 and 12, respectively.
Leading the Dolphins offense was Alex Marple who had 16 points in the loss. Teammate Emily Greer chipped in 15 points of her own. The two combined for five assists and 7 rebounds.
At 15:35 Balfour knocked down a three pointer to increase the Panthers lead to six, 12-6. Just minutes later Flynn would contribute a triple of her own with twelve minutes left in the half to lead the Dolphins 17-8. An 11- 6 run would give Adelphi their largest margin of the half of 14 points, 28-14.
Le Moyne brought it within four on a jumper by Maggie Brown with less than four minutes to play in the first half. The Dolphins capitalized on Adelphi's nine turnovers in the first 20 minutes, going on a 5-0 run to finish the half trailing 34-42.
Balfour accounted for 13 points in the second half alone and the team shot 55 percent collectively from the field. A layup from Kitrys with 13:32 left on the clock gave the Brown and Gold a 12 point lead. A missed shot and turnover by the Dolphins gave the Panthers another opportunity to score, making the score 61-46.
Another jumper by Kitrys with 7:09 remaining in the half increased the Green and White deficit to 20, 68-48. Less than two minutes to go in the game and Flynn would seal the deal with a layup and a three-pointer that made the margin 25 points, 80-54.
