Men's Tennis Falls to ASA, 9-0

The Panthers are still looking for their first win of the season.

Justin Vijungco played the closest match for the Panthers at sixth singles.
Box Score New York, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team opened its spring season with a 9-0 loss to non-conference opponent ASA College on Friday. With the loss, the Panthers drop to 0-4 on the season with the Avengers improve to 3-1. 

In doubles, the Brown and Gold put up their toughest fight in the second spot, where Sander Brenner and Uladzislau Litvinchuk were beaten 8-1. In singles play, Justin Vijungco played a close match at sixth singles before being defeated 6-1, 6-3. The match also marked the debut of Sebastian Zapata, who saw action in the first doubles and second singles spots.

Coach's Thoughts on the Match
"Today we played one of the strongest junior colleges in the nation," Head Coach Michael Misiti stated. "They have many former professionals playing on their squad and we always knew this would incredibly difficult. We will move on from our first match of the season, gaining fitness and enthusiasm for our conference matches."

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, March 1 when they will travel to Sparkill, N.Y. to face off against Saint Thomas Aquinas in a non-conference match.
