Women's Tennis Championship Central
South Easton, Mass. – The Adelphi University women's tennis team finished the season with a perfect 12-0 record in league play to earn the top seed in next week's 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Tennis Championship. The Panthers advanced to the conference championship a year ago and fell to Merrimack College, 5-3, in the title match.
Adelphi receives a Northeast-10 Championship first-round bye, as does second-seeded Southern New Hampshire University (11-1, 11-1 NE-10), into the semifinal round of the league playoffs. In the semifinal round, which will be played in Garden City on Friday, the Brown and Gold will face either the defending champions, or the No. 5 seeded Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College. Adelphi defeated the Warriors 6-3 at home on September 21, and recorded a 7-2 win over the Purple Knights on the road on October 10. Southern New Hampshire awaits the Stonehill/Assumption winner.
First-round action of this fall's Northeast-10 Conference Championship begins Tuesday, October 21 with third-seeded Stonehill College (10-2, 10-2 NE-10) hosting sixth-seeded Assumption College (7-7, 7-5 NE-10) at 2:00 p.m. and fifth-seeded Saint Michael's College (8-4, 8-4 NE-10) traveling to fourth-seeded Merrimack (9-4, 8-4 NE-10) at 2:00 p.m. The Warriors will be looking to defend their title when they begin play Tuesday afternoon.

Assuming they are able to played outdoors, both semifinal contests are scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start The 2014 Northeast-10 Championship match will take place on Sunday, October 26 (1:00 p.m.) at the site of the highest remaining seed.
