Waltham, Mass. - The No. 21 Adelphi University women's basketball team traveled to undefeated No. 1 Bentley University in a non-divisional conference contest on Wednesday evening. In a matchup between the Northeast-10 two division leaders, the Panthers trailed by 10 at the half, and although they challenged for a majority of the second, were unable to overcome the deficit and fell by a 77-66 final. The Panthers drop their third straight, and fall to 12-3 overall with a 6-3 record in the NE-10, while Bentley remains perfect at 14-0 and 9-0 in conference.

Pacing the Adelphi offense in the loss was Sade Jackson, who came one assist shy of a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Jessica Kitrys tallied 16 points behind 8-16 shooting from the field, while Kelly Mannix was the Panthers' final player in double figures with 10. Four of Bentley's starters tallied double figures, as Lauren Battista led the hosts with 19.

The Panthers struggled on offense for the second consecutive game, as they shot just 8-29 from the field in the first half. The Brown and Gold shot 25-65 from the field for the game, but were just 5-23 from behind the three-point arc.

The Panthers were first to jump on scoreboard after back-to-back free throws by Jackson, under a minute into the game, that made the score 2-0. Bentley wouldn't answer back until the clock displayed 15:48 and freshman Calli Balfour committed a personal foul on Bentley's Caileigh Crowell. Her back-to back free throws gave the hosts a 3-2 lead. The Panthers would take their last lead of the game, 11-10, behind a Jackson jumer at the 11:02 mark, but Bentley unleashed a 17-8 run over nearly seven minutes which put them ahead 27-19.

Two free throws from Jenna Halaby and a triple from Shannon Flynn put the deficit at just three, 27-24, with 3:18 remaining, but the Falcons scored six unanswered points to close out the half and headed to the locker room with a 34-24 lead.

The Panthers came out of the locker room hot, as they made nine of their first 13 shots to open the half. A Kitrys jumper at 11:29 pulled the Panthers to within three at 48-45, but a 9-0 run by the Falcons gave them their largest lead of the game to that point, 59-47.

For the remainder of the game, the Panthers got no closer than six, as a Mannix jumper with 1:49 remaining brought the score to 67-61. With the Panthers forced to foul over the final minute of action, the Falcons went a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe to come away with a 77-66 win.
