Garden City, N.Y. – The Adelphi women's basketball team played host to the #2 Bentley University Falcons earlier this evening at the Center for Recreation and Sports. Despite holding an early 11 point lead in the first half, the Panthers fell behind by as much as 20 in the second frame. While they rallied late, the deficit proved to be too great and eventually fell by a score of 66-53. With their fourth straight loss, the Panthers drop to 9-7 overall and 6-6 in the NE-10, while Bentley remains a perfect 16-0 and 12-0 in the NE-10.

Sade Jackson, Jessica Kitrys and Samantha Milhaven all scored in double figures. Jackson recorded a double-double, leading the team with 17 points and 10 rebounds and was two assists shy of a triple-double. Kitrys added 12 points while Milhaven chipped in with 10 of her own.

For the Falcons, Courtney Finn led all scorers with 20 points to go along with her 10 boards. Jacqui Brugliera and Lauren Battista combined for 24 points and 13 rebounds while Tyler Parker Kimball tacked on six points and grabbed nine misses.

Both sides traded buckets in the opening minutes, but Milhaven knocked down a triple from the left corner to give the Panthers an early 9-5 lead. Kelly Mannix laid in her first bucket of the game off a lob from Jackson and drained a pair of foul shots seconds later to extend the lead to eight. Jackson then convert on a three-point play at the 14:42 to give the Brown and Gold their largest lead of the half to that point, 16-5.

The Falcons would score five straight points to cut the deficit to 16-10, but efforts from Kitrys and a three ball from Lauren Nuss grew the cushion back up to 11 points at 21-10.

However, the Panthers' shooting went cold from that point on as the visitors strung together a 10-2 run to make it a one possession game with 6:35 to go. Milhaven made a layup to put the Panthers back up by four, but a layup from Kimball and two free throws from Lauren Battista brought the Falcons even at 25 apiece with just under five minutes left to play in the half.

A three from Kelsey Roberson gave the Falcons their first lead since the 17:58 mark. A late layup by Jackson sent the Brown and Gold in the locker room down by two, 31-29.

The Falcons opened up the second with seven unanswered points to take a 36-29 advantage. They used the momentum to string together a 20-4 run to set the Panthers back by 20 points with 11:35 showing on the clock.

The Panthers scored six straight points to close the gap to 53-39 but Bentley quickly responded and pushed their lead back to 20 with 8:05 to go. Down 61-41, Milhaven sunk a three that would kick start a 10-2 run which brought the Panthers to within 12 at 63-51. Then, Jackson's jumper from the floor made it a 10 point game with just over a minute left to play.

However, they were forced to resort to fouling, but Bentley sunk three from the charity stripe to seal the deal and remain perfect.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, January 26th when they travel to Southern New Hampshire University for a 1:30 pm conference contest.
