Box Score

New Haven, Conn. - The Adelphi University baseball team dropped an 8-3 decision at Southern Connecticut State University in a Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division contest on Wednesday. The Panthers are now 22-20 overall and 10-8 in the division, while the Owls climb to 30-14 overall and 11-6 in the Southwest.

The Panthers were held to one hit on the day, one of which was a solo home run by Anthony Zarrella in the top of the fourth. Zarrella's ninth homer of the season is also his fourth in five games and ranks the junior slugger fifth in the NE-10 in homers. Richard Mejia provided an RBI single in the sixth, and Tyler Barrett ripped a pinch hit RBI double in the top of the ninth for Adelphi's third run.

Chris Pabisch started on the hill for the Panthers and went five innings, taking the loss when his inherited runner scored on a bases-loaded single of Mike Cranston in sixth. Chris Murphy, Jeff Andersen and Jimmy Milani each threw an inning of relief, with Milani firing a hitless eighth frame.

Back-to-back three run innings in the sixth and seventh erased what was a tie game through five and a half, but a single run on Barrett's two bagger in the ninth was not enough for Adelphi to complete the rally.

The Panthers return to action at home tomorrow with a divisional game against the University of New Haven at 12 p.m.
