Pleasantville, N.Y. - The Adelphi University baseball team suffered a two-hit shutout by a score of 8-0 at Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division action on Tuesday. In only their second shutout of the season, the Panthers fall to 11-11 overall and 2-3 in the NE-10 Southwest, while the Setters climb to 14-10 overall and 5-0 in the division.

The Adelphi bats could not solve Pace starter Michael Tamburino, who threw a complete game two-hit shutout. The Setters hurler struck out seven, walked one and face just two batters over the minimum. Tamburino took a no-hitter into the fifth inning until Chad Houghton hit a single to right field. Adelphi's second hit came by way of Craig Matteo single in the ninth.

Michael Carletti suffered the loss on the hill, giving up four earned runs on five hits in six innings. The Pace bats pounded out 10 hits on the day, five of which were for extra-base hits, including a pair of doubles and a home run for Joe Lombardi.

The Panthers struggled to assemble momentum on offense, putting just three runners on base during the game. Pace scored a pair of runs in the second on Lombardi's two-run bomb, grabbed a single run on a one-out single in the fifth, then plated five runs between the seventh and eighth innings to put the game out of reach.

Adelphi returns to action on Friday with a double header at Franklin Pierce University at 2 p.m.
