2010: Started in 37 of the 41 games he played in...collected 23 hits and scored 10 runs...drove in a career-high 13 runs...drew 14 walks and was successful in two steal attempts...tied for the team lead with five sacrifice hits...posted a .970 fielding percentage with 80 putouts and 117 assists...drove in a career-best three RBI three times...collected a career-best two hits four times...scored two runs against Caldwell (4/5)...matched a career-high with eight assists versus St. Anselm (4/17).
2009: Played in 42 games, getting the start in 25 adding five runs, 11 hits (two doubles), and three runs batted in.. also had one sacrifice hit and one sacrifice fly... defensively went third best on the team in assists with 81 with also 62 putouts for a total fielding percentage of .979... game high of one RBI against Mercy College (4/9), and Dowling on two occasions (5/10, 5/15)... game high of eight putouts against Mercy College (4/2)... game high of eight assists against both Southern Connecticut State (3/13) and against St. Thomas Aquinas (3/30).
At St. Mary's High School: Played all four years on the varsity baseball team...member of the New York Empire State Games Championship Team as a junior...named a Scholar-Athlete Award winner and academic all-league.
Personal: Son of John and Cathy Matteo...majoring in criminal justice...has two brothers, John, Chris...hobbies include working out, military training (ROTC), and playing sports...he hopes to pursue a career in the military and law enforcement...his father John and uncle Ricky both played baseball at Adelphi.
