Caldwell, N.J. - The Adelphi University baseball team returned to its winning ways with a 4-2 win over Caldwell College at the Kiwanis Oval on Wednesday, snapping a three-game losing streak with the non-conference contest that brings the Panthers to 7-5 overall. The Cougars fall to 2-10 on the season.

A three-run fifth inning would be all the Panthers needed as starting pitcher Stephen Bove picked up the win, allowing two runs in 5.2 innings. Freshmen Nick Zito and Vincent Sharkey each knocked singles and combined for three RBI in the fifth frame, allowing the Adelphi bullpen to take over with two outs in the bottom of the fifth and hurl shutout baseball the rest of the way. Sophomore John Donnelly faced a batter to end the fifth and keep his spotless earned run average in tact, while Jeff Andersen threw a hitless seventh, James McCormack pitched a shutout eighth, and Matt Abramowitz picked up his team-leading third save via a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Caldwell strung together three hits in the bottom of the fifth to pick up two runs, but senior Jamie Liebowitz ripped an RBI single in Adelphi's half of the eighth to plate an insurance run with his second hit of the day.

The Panthers return to action tomorrow with a non-league home contest against Dominican College at 3:30 p.m. Adelphi is slated for five home gamese in the next four days, including its Northeast-10 Conference home opener against Bentley University on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
