Box Score
Springfield, Mass. - The Adelphi University women's basketball team held on for a 62-49 win at American International College in Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday, giving the Panthers their sixth league win of the year and setting the program's highest single-season NE-10 win total since joining the conference in 2009-10. Adelphi improves to 8-13 overall and 6-11 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets drop to 9-12 overall and 8-9 in league competition.

For Adelphi, Amanda Campusano and Jessica Kitrys each had a game-high 17 points. Campusano nailed a trio of 3-pointers while going 6-for-6 from the free throw line, and Kitrys drained 8-of-13 shots from the floor while pulling down six rebounds. Sade Jackson turned in a solid performance with 16 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in the victory that saw the Panthers shoot 44.7 percent from the field.

For AIC, Rhea Pascal registered a double-double with 15 points and a game-best 18 rebounds, 11 of which came on the offensive end. Sarah Noble scored 12 points and corralled seven rebounds, and Alyssa Roach tallied nine points on top of dishing out seven assists. The Yellow Jackets struggled to find their rhythm on offense as they shot just 28 percent from the floor over the course of the game, 20 percent from the field in the first half and made only 2-of-21 3-point attempts.

The Panthers battled for a small lead most of the first half, but began to widen the margin over the final seven minutes of the period thanks to an 11-for-11 clip from the free throw line. Adelphi never trailed after the 15:49 mark when Kelly Mannix made it a 6-5 game, and the visitors slowly worked out to a double-digit lead over the following minutes. The Panthers used a 9-0 run to stretch their lead to 13 points, and a late jumper by AIC's Marie Li Sicard left Adelphi with a 31-20 cushion at halftime.

Adelphi held tight to its comfortable lead well into the second half, but the Yellow Jackets mustered a 9-0 streak of their own on the backs of Pascal and Erica Johnson, who combined for all nine points in just over two minutes of play. A layup by Pascal at the 10:05 mark sliced the Adelphi lead to just two points, and  AIC forced multiple tie games down the stretch on timely free throws, but the trio of Campusano, Kitrys and Jackson had an answer each time that allowed the visitors to keep the AIC rally at bay.

The tension built as Noble laid in a basket with 38 seconds to play to bring the Yellow Jackets within a point, 60-59, but AIC was forced to foul and sent Mannix to the line. Adelphi's top-scoring freshman sank both freebies, giving the Panthers a three point lead and challenging AIC to attempt a last second 3-pointer that was swatted away harmlessly by Jackson to secure the win.

The Panthers play their second-to-last away game of the regular season when they travel to the College of Saint Rose on Wednesday for an NE-10 contest at 5:30 p.m.
