Box Score
Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's basketball team could not overcome a 19-point first half deficit as the Panthers fell to Pace University 69-51 in Northeast-10 Conference play at the Center for Recreation and Sport on Tuesday. With two regular season games remaining, Adelphi stands at 8-16 overall and 6-14 in NE-10 competition, while the Setters jump to 18-6 overall and 15-5 in the NE-10.

Sophomore Jessica Kitrys continued her solid offensive play with a 20-point night, turning in her third straight game with at least 20 points. Adelphi's main inside presence passed the 600-point mark for her career and narrowly missed her fifth double-double of the season after pulling down nine rebounds. Kitrys' performance boosted her up to the ninth spot among the NE-10's top scorers and is averaging 18.2 points per game since the new year.

Classmate Sade Jackson had a productive night with 11 points, six assists, six steal and five rebounds, and senior Amanda Campusano registered 10 points with a pair of 3-pointers.

For Pace, Brittany Shields scored a team-best 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds and made 7-of-11 shots from the field. Margo Hackett chipped in 13 points and made all five free throw attempts, and Carol Johnson and Kerri White rounded out the Setters' double-digit scorers with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Pace outshot the hosts 47.2 percent to 38.8 percent on the night and got solid performances out of its reserves, outscoring Adelphi's bench 19-2.

Adelphi clutched an early advantage but the Setters steadily built their lead deep into the first half, using a paralyzing 18-0 run over nearly a 10 minute span to secure a 37-18 lead at the half. Pace held the Panthers to just 7-of-24 shooting in the first frame, all while seeing balanced scoring from seven of eight Setters who saw the floor. Kitrys battled to limit the damage and recorded 10 points and six boards in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Panthers opened the second half on a 14-4 run that cut the Pace lead to single digits for the first time since the 8:57 mark in the first half, but the visitors countered with another authoritative offensive surge to the tune of 13-0 that left Adelphi trailing by 20 points midway through the half. The Setters maintained a comfortable lead until the final buzzer, limiting the Panthers to just four field goals in the final 10 minutes.

The Panthers take off for their final road game of the regular season when they face Le Moyne, who they knocked off 73-62 earlier this season, on Saturday at 1 p.m.
