Albany, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's basketball team overcame a nine-point second half deficit to beat the College of Saint Rose 80-67 in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday. With their second straight win, the Panthers improve to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in NE-10 play. The Golden Knights slip to 2-3 overall and remain winless in the league at 0-3.

Junior Sade Jackson posted 16 points and 10 assists, and stood just two rebounds short of posting her fourth consecutive triple double. Jessica Kitrys and Kelly Mannix each contributed 15 points and combined for 17 of Adelphi's 43 rebounds. Freshman Lauren Nuss scored a career-best 13 points and knocked down a trio of three-pointers, while Jenna Halaby also set a career-high with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting.

For Saint Rose, Gabie Polce led all scorers with 19 points, and Maria Sanchez turned in a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. The Golden Knights ran into second half shooting woes that allowed the Panthers to turn the tide, hitting on just 28.1 percent (9-32) of their field goals in the final 20 minutes.

The hosts build a steady lead in the early going, jumping out to an eight-point lead on the strength of an 8-0 run seven minutes into the first half. Adelphi pushed back briefly, scoring five unanswered points, but Saint Rose promptly seized control and went on a 14-0 outburst that put the home squad up 25-11 with eight minutes until halftime. A Mannix layup and Nuss three-pointer brought the Panthers back within five with under two minutes left in the half, but Polce rolled in a last-second layup to make it a 34-27 Saint Rose lead heading into the second half.

Adelphi came out of the break with a new energy and tied the game at 38-38 within five minutes of resuming play. After a quick reclaiming of the lead by the Golden Knights, Jackson drained a three-pointer to tie it and swished a jumper on the next possession to give the Panthers their first lead of the half. Saint Rose managed to tie things up at 45-45, but Adelphi never relinquished the lead after that. The visitors mounted a substantial lead that stretched as wide as 15 points on two occasions.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday when they host Assumption in an NE-10 contest at 1:30 p.m.
