Box Score
Rindge, N.H. - The Adelphi University women's basketball team suffered a tough 95-55 loss to Northeast-10 heavyweight Franklin Pierce University in league action at the Fieldhouse in Rindge on Saturday. In their largest margin of defeat in two seasons, the Panthers allowed the most points in a single contest since falling 95-64 to Saint Rose on Dec. 9, 1998. Adelphi slides to 6-9 overall and 4-7 in NE-10 play, while the Ravens move to 11-4 and 8-3 in league action.

The duo of Jessica Kitrys and Kelly Mannix combined for 20 of Adelphi's points, chipping in 10 each to mark the third straight game the pair has each scored in double figures. Mannix grabbed seven rebounds, tied with Amanda Campusano for the team lead on the day. Ashley O'Connell led all Panther reserves with a season-high seven points on 3-of-6 shooting in nine minutes of play.

For Franklin Pierce,  defending NE-10 Player of the Year, Daktronics East Region Player of the Year and 2011 All-American Jewel White had a game-high 21 points and did not miss a shot she took, going 8-for-8 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the free throw line. White was joined by four other players who scored in double figures: Brittany Martelle (17), Marielle Giroud (14), Jessica Hurd (11) and Amanda Saab (10). The Ravens shot 58 percent from the field and outrebounded their opponents by a 41-23 margin.

The Panthers held an early lead in the opening minutes and took a 6-2 advantage on a Mannix fast break layup following a steal by Sade Jackson at the 18:47 mark. The hosts would slowly but surely reclaim the lead, however, and build their cushion over the remainder of the half, using 14 points off turnovers to open up a 17-point lead at halftime (51-34). A tie game with 13:08 to play in the half gave way to a 9-0 Ravens run that would set the tone for the rest of the half.

Franklin Pierce stretched it leads to 30 points midway through the second half on a jumper by Tiffany Johnson, then assembled a 12-0 run that made it a 40-point game going into the final minutes. O'Connell scored six of her seven points in the second stanza, going 3-for-5 from the floor as the only Panthers who sank more than one bucket in the second half.

Adelphi finishes its two game road swing with an NE-10 contest against #9 Bentley in Waltham, Mass., on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
