On Friday, November 11 the Adelphi University volleyball team will face #2 Stonehill College in the Northeast-10 Tournament semifinals. The game is slated to start at 5:00 pm on Stonehill's campus and you can follow all the action live on video

Stonehill advanced to the semifinals with a 3-1 win over #7 Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday, while the Panthers dispatched #6 Pace, 3-0 to earn their spot. Both teams are also ranked in the latest NCAA Regional poll, with the Stonehill checking in at #4 and Adelphi just one spot back in fifth.
Adelphi enters the contest on a hot streak, having won their last seven games in a row and nine of their last 11, while the Skyhawks are riding a three game win streak and have lost just twice in their last 12 outings. Tonight's game will be a rematch of Adelphi's October 21st showdown with Stonehill, which the Skyhawk's won 3-0 (25-23, 25-22 and 25-14).
In the all-time series, Adelphi has gotten the better of Stonehill, leading the action, 6-3, with Adelphi's last win coming during the 2010 season to the tune of 3-1. The Panthers have also done well in the Northeast-10 Tournament over the past three seasons, posting a record of 4-2 and advancing to the NE-10 Championship game in 2009. Stonehill has a record of 14-31 all-time in the NE-10 Tournament and has never appeared in the Championship contest.
Leading the way for Adelphi will be 2011 All-Northeast-10 selections
Patawe Simms and
Chelsea Overholt, along with All-Rookie honoree
Kaitlyn DeStefano. Simms, leads the Panthers in kills with 204 on the season and has posted an attack percentage of .264 on the season. In addition she is second on the team in total blocks with 49 and has 59 digs and 26 service aces. Overholt is second on the team in kills with 203 and fourth in digs with 179. She also has 21 service aces and 22 blocks on the season. DeStefano has netted her 86 total blocks, for an average of 1.01 per set and 163 kills.
Most likely to round out Adelphi's starting seven will be
Katie Bryson,
Bianca Hernandez,
Bree Popham, while
Emily Dorko and
Samantha Rico will both see a lot of court time. Bryson has been Adelphi's primary setter all season, averaging 9.01 sets per game, while Hernandez leads the team with 412 digs on the year. Popham is also a defensive cog for the Brown and Gold, amassing 236 digs and 33 service aces. Both Dorko and Rico are strong at the net, posting a combined 319 kills on the season.
With a win the Panthers will advance to the NE-10 Championship game on Saturday, November 12 to face the winner of #4 St. Rose against #8 UMass-Lowell.
