Garden City, N.Y. - Following a two-win week for Adelphi women's lacrosse,
Rory Meehan and
Julia Foppiano have received recognition from the Northeast 10 Conference, as Defensive Player and Player of the Week, respectively.
Additionally, Meehan was tabbed the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts.
Meehan was a force on the field last week, collecting seven caused turnovers and five ground balls in No. 13 Adelphi's pair of wins. The sophomore midfielder also won a team-leading four draw controls against Assumption. One of her four caused turnovers came in the second half when the Panthers held the Greyhounds scoreless for over 30 minutes.
Foppiano was the team's leader in points last week, as she finished with 12 overall points (five goals, seven assists) in wins over Saint Anselm and Assumption. The junior scored four times and added a trio of helpers against the Hawks before putting up five more points (courtesy of a goal and four assists) against the Greyhounds. She assisted on two of the goals scored in the fourth quarter while Adelphi held Assumption scoreless.
Adelphi's last four regular season games are all at home, starting with Molloy University on April 8 in non-league action. On Saturday, April 11, the Cats host Southern New Hampshire in its penultimate NE10 matchup, starting at 1:00 p.m. Following the game, the program will recognize the members of the graduating class.
