Women's Lacrosse Takes Three Major Awards to Lead 10 All-NE10 Selections

4/28/2026 10:00:00 AM

North Attleboro, Mass. - Following an 11-game win streak and undefeated conference slate, the Adelphi University women's lacrosse team has received three of six major Northeast 10 Conference postseason awards, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Alexandra Leggio becomes the seventh Panther to earn the title of Attacker of the Year, and the first since the 2018 season. The senior has started and played in all 15 contests in her final campaign, collecting 40 goals and 44 assists for 84 points. This rivals last year's total of 80 points, which she accounted for through 23 games as a junior. She's averaging just under three goals per contest this season and nears the same number for assists per game. She's tops in the league - and is one of three Cats in the top-five - for points per game at 5.53.

Picking up back-to-back recognition, Sonny Lionetti is the 2026 NE10 Defensive Player of the Year. This marks the 10th time since the program joined the NE10 in the 2010 season and the first for an Adelphi athlete to go back-to-back since Ryley Weber did it in 2016 and 2017. Lionetti is causing around two turnovers per contest and is unmatched when it comes to clearing the ball.

For the undefeated regular season, Pat McCabe picks up his third Coach of the Year honor. In the team's last four games, the margin of victory has reached double-digits with Adelphi scoring 20 points in three games.

Leggio and Lionetti are two of Adelphi's six NE10 First Team selections. Ashley Kolomechuk and Rita Sefransky both earn their second career nods to the First team as Julia Foppiano and Rory Meehan pick up their first selections to the top. Each of the choices ranks in the top five for various categories, as Meehan leads the way with 2.33 caused turnovers per contest, Kolomechuk is tops in goals per game, and Foppiano adds in the top-billing for assists per game.

Representing Adelphi on the Second team are Marielle Colalillo and Madison Howard, while newcomer Emma Mclam is a Third Team selection. Rounding out the league awards is Nikola Debicka, who appears on the NE10 All-Rookie squad.

McCabe and his squad host the NE10 semifinal round on Wednesday, April 29, where they will host Saint Anselm College at 4:00 p.m. In Adelphi's seven times being named the Regular Season Champ, they've gone on to win the conference tournament on six occasions.
