North Attleboro, Mass. – Adelphi's men's and women's golf programs combined to earn three of the four Northeast 10 weekly awards. Johnny Solari was named NE10 Men's Golf Player of the Week, while Zeus Sara and Nikola Truhlarova swept the NE10 Rookie of the Week honors, as announced Wednesday afternoon.
For Solari, it marks the second time he has earned the award. The senior is coming off an individual co-champion performance at the Saint Anselm Florida Invitational, where he shot five-under for the tournament. Across two rounds at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla., he carded a three-under (69) and a two-under (70). Solari totaled 12 birdies over 36 holes, helping lead the team to victory.
Sara, like Solari, also finished at five-under, sharing individual co-champion honors with his teammate. It marks the second time the freshman has earned the rookie of the week honor. He tied a career high in round one at the Saint Anselm Florida Invitational, carding a four-under (68), before following with a one-under (71) in round two. Sara recorded eight birdies and a spectacular eagle on hole four's par-five during the tournament.
Truhlarova has been excellent during her first season in the Brown and Gold, earning Rookie of the Week honors for the third time. The Czech Republic native finished second individually at the Saint Anselm Florida Invitational, leading the team to a first-place finish. She shot nine-over for the tournament, carding a 77 (+4) in round one and a 78 (+5) in round two. She recorded two birdies in her opening round and totaled 26 pars across the tournament.
The men's golf program returns to action on Monday, April 13, at The Shark Invitational, while the women continue their season on Friday, March 27, in a tri-match with Hofstra University and Wagner College.
