Sara/Solari Share Co-Champion Honors in Men's Golf Victory at Saint A's Florida Invitational

Orlando, Fla.Zeus Sara and Johnny Solari finished as co-individual champions at the Saint Anselm Florida Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, leading the Adelphi men's golf team to a first-place victory. All seven golfers who competed for the Cats finished in the top-15.

As a team, the Panthers shot an incredible 11-under, running away with the title. Second-place Bentley University trailed by 21 strokes (+10). The Brown and Gold were one of 10 teams to compete in the two-day tournament.

Co-individual champions Sara and Solari each shot 5-under. Sara carded a 68 (-4) in round one and a 71 (-1) in round two, while Solari posted a 69 (-3) in round one and a 70 (-2) in round two.

Sara tallied eight birdies over the two-day stretch and added an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole during day one. The freshman got off to a strong start, leading the tournament after his opening 18 holes, and remained consistent in round two en route to his first career individual victory.

Solari totaled 12 birdies across the two rounds, dominating the front nine in both appearances at Eagle Creek Golf Club. This marks the second individual title of the season for the senior, who also finished as a co-champion at the Granite State Opener in September.

Also finishing in the top five, Mitchell Archer (T-4) continued his steady play, finishing 1-under over 36 holes. After shooting a 71 (-1) in round one, he followed with an even-par 72 in round two, recording 10 birdies during the tournament.

Fellow freshmen Ahaan Dhir (T-6) and Domenick Caponi (T-9) rounded out the top-10 finishes for the Panthers. Dhir finished 1-over for the tournament, while Caponi posted a 3-over score. Both players recorded career-low rounds on day one, with Dhir shooting a 70 (-2) and Caponi a 71 (-1). 

Ike Rothman (T-12) and Francis Lanuza (T-14) also contributed to the team victory. Rothman opened with a 71 (-1) before shooting a 77 (+5) in round two. Lanuza finished 5-over for the tournament, posting a 76 (+4) in round one and a 73 (+1) in second trip through Eagle Creek.

Head coach David Mattana and the Panthers return to action on Monday, April 13, as they remain on Long Island to compete in the Shark Invitational, hosted by Long Island University. The tournament will be held at Brookville Country Club in Glen Head, N.Y., and will conclude on Tuesday, April 14.
