West Palm Beach, Fla. – The Adelphi University men's golf program opened its spring season with a fourth-place finish at the Kona Ice Keiser Kup on Tuesday afternoon, with Johnny Solari leading the way, finishing fourth individually.
After three days and 54 holes of golf, the Panthers shot 30-over as a team, finishing just three shots behind Palm Beach State and tying with Keiser University (B) out of the 11 participating teams.
After an impressive opening round of 71 (E) that featured three birdies, Solari shot back-to-back 73s (+2) over the next two days, including an eagle on the par-5 15th hole. He was one of two Panthers to finish inside the top-20.Â
Mitchell Archer shot +9 for the tournament, with his first round highlighted by an eagle and a pair of birdies, as he finished in 18th place.
Ike Rothman kicked off the second half of his freshman campaign by finishing 22nd overall (+11). Following an impressive 72 in round one, he shot a 75 in round two and a 77 in round three. Rothman mixed in six birdies over his 54 holes of golf.
Not far behind, fellow freshman Zeus Sara (+12) placed just one spot outside the top 25. His best round came on day three, when he shot a 73 (+2) that featured three birdies.
Rounding out the Panthers lineup was Francis Lanuza, as the senior battled during his first two rounds at Okeeheelee Golf Course before finding his rhythm on day three. In his final go at the course, Lanuza shot a 71 that featured four birdies on his way to a top-50 finish (42nd).
The Panthers return to action on Monday, Mar. 16, as they travel back to the Sunshine State to participate in the Saint Anselm Florida Invitational - a two-day tournament - at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.Â
