Holder Knocks Down 50-Year Old Triple Jump Record At Sander Scorcher

New York, N.Y. - As the Adelphi University track and field program took on the Dr. Sander Scorcher, hosted by Columbia University, rookie Jabari Holder made his mark on the record boards. 

Men's Highlights:
  • Holder not only reached an NCAA provisional mark with his best leap (15.07m), he set a new Adelphi record in the process. His first place finish knocked down a record held by Curtis Goode (14.33m) set in the 1976 season. In addition to his performance in the triple jump, he also placed first in the long jump event, topping a field of Division I competition with a distance of 7.10m. 
  • David Williams made the finals of the 60 hurdles invitational race after putting up a time of 8.24 in the prelims. He finished fifth overall in a time of 8.15. 
  • Daniel Carsey set a new college best in the 60 hurdles open event, clocking in at 8.57 to place fifth in the field. 
  • Evan  Weber's mark of 2.259 in the 200 meter dash was 18th overall but the top Division II time in the field. 
Women's Highlights: 
  • Shareve Blair was responsible for a top-20 showing in the 60 meter dash but also se ta new personal best mark in the 200 with her time of 26.54. 
  • Marissa Haye was one second from her best time, but finished fifth in the open field of the 400 meter race. 
Adelphi will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 30 when they go to Boston for the Johhn Thomas Terrier Classic. Additionally, some members may attend the Millrose Games, if entries are accepted.
