Box Score Flushing, N.Y. — Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi men's tennis team returned to the court on Saturday evening for the second round of the NCAA East Regional after the program's historic first tournament win.
#1 seeded Queens College started the match off with a doubles victory in the no. 1 pairing. Marko Jovanovic and Spyridon Papageorgiou were able to tie it at one before a decisive no. 3 match. Andrea Albiero and Louca Bertone battled, but the Knights were able to earn to first point after a narrow 6-4 win.
Queens carried momentum and came right back with a victory in the no. 6 singles tilt to go up two.
Jovanovic continued his dominance, winning his fourteenth straight singles match to earn the Cats a point and get them back into the match. The Knights earned a crucial third point in the no. 5 match. Papageorgiou found himself in an early hole, losing his first game 1-6 and fought his way through the second game but inevitably fell in a tiebreak.
With every match close, Queens would earn the final fourth point in the no. 3 singles match, taking home the victory.
The Panthers finished the season at 17-5 and will look to improve on one of their best seasons in program history.
