Princeton, NJ - In just the second weekend of outdoor track and field action, four student-athletes from the Adelphi University program competed at the Sam Howell Distance Carnival, hosted by Princeton University.
Sumaira Mayan and
Lucia Kutner both raced in the women's 1500, for their first time racing the event this season, placing 25th and 32nd, respectively. The former landed a top-25 spot by way of a 4:52.93 finish, which is just three seconds off her personal best in the event. Kutner's best time in the 1500 came at the end of last season, where she ran a 4:57.39 at the West Point Twilight meet - a near eight seconds from her time this early in the season.
Jake Orfano put up a big 16-second PR in his 5000 race, taking 16th in the unseeded race in a time of 15:15.14. The overall time drop from his freshman year (16:22) stands at over 60 seconds over the past four years. Currently this time ranks second in both the Northeast-10 Conference and the East Region, as he trails Ryan Outerbridge from Franklin Pierce.
Also racing in the evening meet was
Nicholas Nanan, who clocked in at 1:59.10 to come in 32nd in the 800. Four seconds from his "best", this time ranks 16th among East Region competition and is the best in the NE10 after two weeks of action.
The squad will once again be split among two meets - weather permitting - as a roup will head to the TCNJ Multi Invite and another to the Bison Outdoor Classic.
