Mansfield, Mass. — The Adelphi University men's tennis team has been rolling in conference play lately, winning four straight NE10 contests in the spring. The Panthers currently sit in first place with a 7-1 conference record and after an important win over Saint Michael's the Cats were recognized, sweeping the conference awards.
Marko Jovanovic was named the NE10 Player of the Week while Spyridon Papgeorgiou picked up his second Rookie of the Week honor in three weeks.
The two were dominant as a doubles pair, winning both of their matches against St. Thomas Aquinas (7-5) and Saint Michael's (6-4).
Jovanovic went undefeated as Adelphi's no. 1 singles player, not dropping a set as he won 6-4, 6-4 against the Spartans and 6-2, 6-3 when facing the Purple Knights' top player.
Papageorgiou picked up a crucial no. 4 win against Saint Michael's winning 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 to help the Cats secure the team victory.
The Panthers return to the court on Friday when they travel up to Bentley at 1:00 PM.
