Kings Point, N.Y. -
Tyler Romero scored a season-high 317.70 on the one-meter diving board to land a qualifying standard for the Division II Championship, despite the Adelphi University men's swimming a diving program falling 97-144 to the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Thursday.
Needing to score 285 points through six dives (with a minimum degree of difficulty set at 14.0) to reach the standard, Romero put up a career-best of 317.70, smashing his previous best of
288.07, set last January.
Highlights:
- The men won five individual events and one relay to fall short in total points at the dual-meet.
- Tristan Weingarten topped the field in the 200 freestyle, using a time of 1:47.33.
- Valerii Pidhoretskyy continued his winning ways in the 50 freestyle, clocking in at 21.15 (20.21 personal best) to win the event.
- Ryan Kakimseit was responsible for a pair of victories, taking first in the 200 individual medley (1:58.19) and 100 backstroke (51.75).
- Connor Singer won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 58.25, after previously achieving an NCAA B Cut at last weekend's ECAC Winter Championship.
Adelphi will break until after the new year, taking on Wellsley/Bentley and Worcester Polytechnic Institute at the site of the 2026 Northeast 10 Conference Championship meet on January 13.
