North Attleboro, Mass. - Following a week where the fall sports went a combined 11-1, the Adelphi University Panthers have collected five 'of the Week' honors, across three different sports.
Kayleigh Goodrich was named Northeast 10 Player of the Week in women's soccer, as was Macarty McQueen for volleyball. Field Hockey's Olivia Docyk claims defensive player of the week while her teammate Allison Gregory claims goalie of the week. Rounding out the recognition, Ana Carolina Westerich claimed setter of the week honors - her second of the season - announced by the conference office on Monday.
Goodrich collected eight points in two games with three goals and two assists. She stands as the leader of the NE10 in points with 23, shots on goal with 28, and goals with nine so far this season. She has already surpassed her last year's goal total of eight.
Goodrich is currently tied for second in the country in goals (nine) and is tied for first for total points (23).
Docyk served as the back line anchor for the Panthers' defense this past week as she helped her team go 2-0, including a shutout over no. 9 and defending National Champion Saint Anselm. She helped limit her opponents to only 19 total shots and only 10 shots on goal.
Gregory continued her hot streak, improving to 5-2 and completing two shutouts during the week. She accounted for four saves against Mercy, and six saves against the Hawks.
Macarty averaged nearly four and a half kills per set in 12 sets, as the Panthers pulled off an undefeated week. Her best game of the week was against Assumption University - in the team's NE10 opener - when she pulled off her fifth double-double of the season tallying 11 kills and 13 digs.
Westerich cleared 30+ assists in each of the four matches, totaling 142 assists and 45 digs this week while claiming her fifth and sixth double-double. Impressively she posted 11.83 assists per set. The Brazil native is tops in the NE10 and seventh in the country with a total of 627 assists thus far this season.
Womens soccer faces off against American International College on Oct.11 at 7pm. Field hockey hits the road to face Southern Connecticut State University on Oct.8 at 5 pm. And volleyball will play at Pace University on Oct.7 at 7pm.
