Worcester, Mass. - Coming off its lone home meet of the 2024-25 season, Adelphi University returned to the lanes - this time at the site of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship - at Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Tuesday, taking on Bentley, WPI and Wellesley.
The men outscored both opponents, but the women were challenged to overcome all three of its challengers.
Women's Highlights:
- While not their fastest time this season, the 200 medley relay placed third in a time of 1:53.88, as member Emily Munayirji took third in the 100 backstroke (1:00.97).
- Laura Moran finished fourth in the 50 freestyle, just .32 seconds off her personal best from the season (25.45).
- Munayirji clocked in at 2:10.11 in the 200 backstroke - an event that she medaled in at last year's championship - which is just seconds from her personal best this year.
- Kelly Tula was a top-five finisher in the 100 butterfly as was Aizel Pusing in the 200 IM.
- Adelphi's 200 freestyle A relay took third overall (1:44.06), as the B relay placed sixth (1:52.59).
Men's Highlights:
- Tyler Romero posted a score of 288.07 in the men's 1-meter diving competition, while also topping the field in the 3-meter event with 253.35 points.
- The men's 200 freestyle A relay bested the field by over four seconds, touching the wall in 1:25.82, which is two seconds from the season high set at ECACs.
- The team won 11 events (tied for one individual race, plus two diving medals) to outscore WPI 176-122 and Bentley 179-115.
- Adelphi's first individual top swim came from Tristan Weinfarten in the 200 freestyle at 1:45.05, which is four seconds from his personal best.
The Cats will compete once more in dual meet action on Saturday, January 25 when they take on Assumption University. The next time they hit the pool it will be for the NE10 Championship, scheduled for February 13-16 at WPI.
