9/6/2024 11:15:00 AM

Garden City, N.Y. - With both programs ready to usher in new beginnings, the Adelphi University men's and women's golf teams are ready to announce their 2024 fall schedules, getting underway in less than a month.

Head coaches David Mattana and Bill Bresnan both look to build from last season, with Mattana's squad not only winning the NE10 Championship in 2023 but seeing Filip Wetterqvist secure a 12th place finish at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships in Winter Garden, Fla.. Bresnan will look to rejuvenate his group bringing in four freshmen for a total of eight underclassmen on a roster of ten after graduating four seniors this past Spring.

Both squads will compete at the same time in differing tournaments over the first two weeks of the season. The men will open up at the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational from Sep. 9-10 at Northern Spy Golf Club in Townsend, Mass.. At the same time, the women will be participating in the WCU Battlefield Classic hosted by West Chester University of Pennsylvania at the Links at Gettysburg.

While the women compete in their leg of the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational at Brentwood Golf Course in Keene, N.H. from Sep. 16-17, the men will be playing at the same time at the Granite State Opener hosted by Southern New Hampshire at Beaver Meadow Golf Course in Concord, N.H..

From there, each crew will set their sights on the NE10 Championship. The women will tee off first from Sep. 29-30 at Blackstone National Golf Course in Sutton, Mass. while the men will look to defend their crown from Oct. 6-8 at Concord Country Club in Concord, N.H..

Immediately after the men look to bring their best at the conference championship, they will host the Panther Invitational for the second-straight year on Oct. 10 at Meadow Brook Club in Jericho, N.Y. after hosting their first tournament since 2013 last season.

Bresnan's bunch will round out their fall campaign with the Hawk Invitational from Oct. 7-8 hosted by Saint Anselm at Derryfield Country Club in Manchester, N.H., followed by a dual match against University of Hartford at Bull's Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn. on Oct. 28.

Mattana's group highlighted by six returners will participate in two more tournaments to finish October, starting with the Post Fall Invitational at Watertown Country Club in Watertown, Conn. from Oct. 14-15 and concluding with the Farmingdale Tournament hosted by Farmingdale State College at Bethpage Blue Golf Course from Oct. 19-20.
