Baseball Announces 50-Game Slate for 2024 Season

2/6/2024 10:12:00 AM

Garden City, N.Y. - With Opening Day just a few short weeks away, Head Coach Bill Ianniciello and the Adelphi University baseball team are excited to unveil their schedule for the 2024 season.

Composed of fifty games this spring, the Panthers last left off in May with a four-game sweep of NE10 rival Southern Connecticut State University to earn a third bid to the NE10 Tournament in as many seasons.

Now entering his fourth year at the helm, Ianniciello has scheduled a pair of five-game trips for the 'Cats in 2024, beginning with the team's return to Myrtle Beach for the Northeast Challenge.

A familiar schedule awaits at the Ripken Experience, where the Panthers will meet the same four opponents as last February, in addition to a Saturday twilight doubleheader against Mercy University.

Adelphi will then play its annual three-game weekend series with Molloy, before embarking on an excursion to Cary, N.C. -- the annual site of the NCAA Division II College World Series.

The conference slate will have a different look in 2024. With Le Moyne departing last summer for NCAA Division I status, Adelphi will now play a three-game series against each of its Southwest Division opponents -- including AIC -- which has reverted back to the Southwest Division after residing in the Northeast Division in 2023.

All crossover games will also count towards a team's conference record this spring. Spread out over three separate weekends, the 'Cats will first welcome in Saint Michael's College (Mar. 23) and Franklin Pierce University (Mar. 24) on back-to-back days for a doubleheader comprised of nine and seven innings.

In April, Ianniciello's squad will make the trek to Massachusetts the weekend of Apr. 13-14 to meet Assumption and Bentley, before hosting Saint Anselm and Southern New Hampshire a week later on Apr. 20 and Apr. 21, respectively.

The team will celebrate its graduating class at the conclusion of its three-game set with University of New Haven on Apr. 28, and round out the league schedule with a trip to Albany to meet The College of Saint Rose one last time on May 3 and May 4.

The NE10 Championship will still follow the same format, with first-round games at home sites on Tuesday, May 7. The four-team double-elimination tournament is set for May 9-11 at the Northeast Division's highest remaining seed.
