Garden City, N.Y. - Following eventful fall seasons from both squads, the Adelphi University men's and women's golf teams are ready to get their 2024 spring season underway now less than a month away.
All competitors from the fall will be returning in the spring, including all of the players from the first NE10 Championship in 10 years for the men. Head Coach Dave Mattana will use the same mantra that led him to success in the fall, "Uneasy lies the head that sleeps on the lead."
The men will also open up their season first, going down to West Palm Beach, Fla. for the Keiser Cup hosted by Keiser University starting March 3rd. The ladies will lead off in Florida, but their tournament will be hosted by conference foe Saint Anselm. The Saint Anselm Orlando Invitational will take place at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla. starting March 25th.
After two quick one-day tournaments for the men hosted by Farmingdale and St. Thomas Aquinas (April 1 and 5,) both teams will head up to the Granite State for the Hawk Invitational. This will be held at the Candid Woods Golf Links for both genders starting April 8th.
The next week, the women will once again travel to Hartford for the spring invitational hosted by Hartford University at Tumble Brook Country Club starting April 12th. Their counterparts will stay on the island, participating in the Shark Shootout hosted by LIU at Brookville Country Club, starting April 16th.
Another busy week follows in late April, as while the men are in West Virginia at the Regional Showcase taking place at Oglebay Resort. The women on the other hand will be hosting their second annual "Panther Battle at the Bay" at The Golf Club in Middle Bay following its inception last spring. Both tournaments will begin on April 22nd and conclude April 23rd. The men will then have their home match formatted as a duel against Wagner College, hosted at Fresh Meadow Country Club in Lake Success, N.Y.
While that will wrap the women's season, the men's biggest date has yet to come. Starting May 10th, they will return to Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, W.Va. for the NCAA East/Atlantic Super Regional, which they earned an automatic berth to following their NE10 Championship victory.
