Men's Golf Claims Runner-Up Spot at NE10 Championship

Candia, N.H. — The Adelphi University men's golf program finished as the runner-up at this year's Northeast 10 Championship, held this Wednesday and Thursday at Candia Woods Golf Club.

As a team, the Panthers shot a combined score of 23-over, finishing just four strokes behind the winning team, Southern New Hampshire University (+19).

Adelphi was led by Mitchell Archer, who finished with a score of four-over across his three rounds of play. Placing fourth on the individual leaderboard, Archer shot 74, 71, and 72, totaling 10 birdies over the course of the tournament.

Behind Archer was freshman Zeus Sara, who placed seventh overall, carding a seven-over for the tournament. His best round came on day one, where he shot a 72 (+1), followed by rounds of 73 and 75. Over the three rounds, he compiled seven birdies, finding particular success on the front nine.

Johnny Solari rounded out the indivdual top 10, finishing at 10-over for the tournament. His second round was his strongest, carding a 72 (+1) that featured three of his seven total birdies.

Ahaan Dhir finished 14th overall, carding a 12-over across his three rounds of play. The freshman was steady through the first two rounds, shooting matching scores of 74, before closing with a 77 in the final round. His performance featured eight birdies throughout the tournament.

Rounding out the Panthers' lineup was Francis Lanuza, who subbed in after round one. Lanuza made the most of his opportunity, shooting even-par (71) followed by a one-under 70. The senior dominated the par-5 10th hole, which measures 468 yards, scoring two of his six total birdies on that hole alone.

Head coach David Mattana and the Panthers will return to action on Monday, Oct. 13, when they travel to Watertown, Conn., to participate in the Post Eagles Invitational. The tournament concludes on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
