Munayirji Tabbed High Point Earner at ECACs

East Meadow, N.Y. - After scoring over 580 points to finish with a score of 63, Adelphi's Emily Munayirji led the women's swimming and diving program at the annual ECAC Winter Championship, hosted at the Nassau County Aquatic Center. 

As the top-point earner for the Cats, the Plainview, New York native put together four personal best times and one season best while scoring in four different events. Her time in the 200 freestyle finals was good enough for 12th overall, after she clocked in at 1:56.93 in the prelims. Her best finish was 8th in the finals of the 200 backstroke, giving her 22 points. 

Highlights:
  • The next highest scorer for Adelphi was Melany Arevalo on the diving board, where she placed 6th and 7th in the three and one-meter events, respectively. 
  • Aizel Pusing was responsible for a slew of season bests and and handful of PR marks - bost notably her leadoff in the 200 freestyle relay at 24.81. 
  • Newcomer Kelly Tula posted a top-20 finish in the finals of the 200 butterfly, with a personal best time of 2:17.89. 
The Panthers are now on a break from competition until after the new year, when they will host St. Joseph's in dual meet action on January 11.
